This presentation will look at the challenges of raising autistic children. It will include the challenges and the negative impacts when working within the Black African; Black Caribbean; Asian; Minority Ethnic and Dual Heritage Communities. The Founder/Director of A2ndvoice - Venessa Bobb; is mother to three teenagers (15-20 years). The two youngest were diagnosed with Autism and ADHD; her son at age 5; in 2008 and her daughter.
We are a small voluntary support group run by parents/carers living and caring for a child or adult on the Autistic Spectrum, raising awareness and understanding from different perspectives, outreaching also to the Africa, Caribbean, Asian and Minority Ethnic Communities (ACAME) and Dual Heritage Communities in tackling the taboos and myths around Autism.
We host a range of activities and events looking at the needs of the family. Supported by Autistic People and Specialists.
