Globally; health economic models are widely used to estimate the long-term costs; health benefits; and cost-effectiveness of various health-care interventions and programmes. This course is designed to provide hands-on training in health economic modelling using the statistical software R to conduct cost-effectiveness/utility analysis. The course's intended audience is those who are familiar with the fundamental principles of economic evaluation and want to develop; understand; and review health economic models such as decision trees and Markov models. The training includes a number of hands-on exercises based on real-world case studies.
