The course Criminology; victimology and profiling explores the study of crime; victimisation and the use of psychological profiling to understand and prevent crime. Students will learn about different theories that explain why crimes are committed and the impact of crime on victims and society. They will also study the methods and techniques used in criminology research; including statistical analysis and qualitative research. The course covers the use of psychological profiling; which involves using psychological and behavioural characteristics to create a profile of an unknown offender. It prepares students for careers in criminal justice; law enforcement and forensic psychology.
