This session will explore what is meant by the term ‘process over product’ and consider what this looks like in practice when working with children. It will suggest practical ideas about how to support open-ended play opportunities within early years settings. Finally; it will consider the role of educators in working with families to promote open-ended opportunities for play within the home learning environment.
The Early Years Alliance is the largest and most representative early years membership organisation in England. We support early years providers to deliver quality, affordable and sustainable care and learning to families, and work to ensure that all children, regardless of background, are given the best possible start in life. The Alliance’s vision is a society where every child enjoys the same opportunity to learn through play. We believe families should be at the centre of policy-making and parents empowered to become more involved with their child’s learning and development.
