The EDI Quality Mark aims to promote multiculturalism and create an equitable education system by raising awareness of diversity in schools. It helps develop global citizens who appreciate and celebrate diversity; with schools using data to identify priorities for improvement. The mark covers all areas of equality and ensures protection against discrimination based on age; disability; gender reassignment; marriage/civil partnership; pregnancy/maternity; race; religion/belief; sex; and sexual orientation. The mark encourages schools to create an environment that fosters growth and equal opportunity for all individuals; promoting diversity and an accepting society.
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Quality Mark is not like other quality marks: it is a year-long CPD programme that helps schools to achieve a quality mark, whether EDI within the school has been a low profile for a while or the school wants to improve the provision further. It focuses on developing effective, confident EDI leadership for whole school impact on pupil and staff well-being.
