This 8 day course is for nurses that are new to general practice. Practice nursing attracts nurses from a wide variety of backgrounds and whilst these nurses have many transferable skills practice nursing requires a unique skill set that is not easily obtained elsewhere. This course aims to standardise the introduction to the role of general practice nurse whilst providing students with the knowledge and skills they need to work effectively as general practice nurses. In recognition of the fact that the role of practice nurse is varied; the course covers the fundamental skills and competencies that most practices require.
EQUIP aims to improve the quality of care in chronic diseases in general practice through education, anticipatory care and audit by developing and utilising all the skills within the practice team. CCGs or practices can commission specific training ranging from accredited Health Care Assistant and Receptionist courses to specific clinical courses such as minor operations and anticoagulation courses through to employment law.
In relation to audit and the new contract, our audit co-ordinator and Audit & IT Lead are able to work with practices and advise on areas such as Read Code, QoF, CQRS, Admission Avoidance etc... EQUIP can provide training for all members of the primary health care team
