This Autism Awareness course is a introductory course is designed for anyone wishing to understand more about autism. It is suitable for anyone who supports autistic children; young people; and adults (not in an education setting) in a variety of contexts. The course explores what autism is; looks at the concepts of neurodiversity and the autism spectrum; and considers common misconceptions. Learners will understand that autistic individuals share common areas of difference; but have their own profile of strengths and challenges. It offers some practical supportive strategies and includes sections of tailored learning content.
