This Basic Life Support course provides the knowledge required to recognise and respond to emergency situations. It covers areas such as primary and secondary surveys; cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and the recovery position; including child and infant adaptations. A variety of emergency situations are covered within the course; including choking; anaphylaxis; diabetic hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia and how to recognise differences between a heart attack; cardiac arrest and respiratory arrests. This is a varied and informative course aiming to give the learner the confidence to act quickly and appropriately when faced with an emergency situation.
