Basic first aid given to someone who is injured or suddenly becomes ill. Primary objective is to preserve life; prevent condition from worsening and promote recovery. Includes assessing a situation and calling for help if necessary; providing initial care for stopping bleeding; dressing a wound or administering CPR.
