Mental Health (Jersey) Law 2016 – Authorised Officer Training
Training Course • Law At Work
About the CPD course
Jersey implemented a new mental health law in October 2018. The law has several statutory requirements including the role of Authorised Officer (AO). An AO is a mental health professional; most commonly a mental health social worker; with sufficient training in mental health and the operation of the Law to make applications for detention of patients to the Minister of Health and Community Care. This training provides the AOs with the details of the law required by the Minister of Health and Social Services to fulfil the function.
