About the CPD course
A collaborative partnership with the Department of Education: has enabled Womens Aid Federation Northern Ireland to implement a two-day capacity building training programme for teachers. This programme aims to assist teachers to understand the context and impact of domestic abuse on the lives of children and their families. It supports teachers to develop preventative and early intervention strategies in relation to children who do not feel safe: especially children affected by domestic abuse.
Furthermore: it enables teachers to deliver the Helping Hands programme linked to the curriculum.
Women’s Aid is the lead voluntary organisation in Northern Ireland addressing domestic abuse and providing services for women and children.
The Women’s Aid movement in Northern Ireland began in 1975 and is made up of eight local Women’s Aid groups and Women’s Aid Federation. Each Women’s Aid group offers a range of specialist services to women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.
