About the CPD course
We will explain how stainless steels can be used for full pedestrian: road and rail bridge structures. The duplex family of stainless steels has high strength making them useful in structural design where long term structural performance: low maintenance and aesthetics are required: particularly in coastal areas or where use of de-icing salt is a risk to durability. The characteristics of duplex stainless steels will be explained and the differences to structural carbon steel outlined. Case studies of applications will show suitable circumstances where these steels have been used with positive outcomes. Note this is not a structural design course.
