The word 'menopause' comes from the Greek words 'menos' meaning month; and 'pause' meaning to cease. Therefore; menopause means the 'monthly' (the period) stops. The menopause is a natural process. For people who have periods; this marks the end of their reproductive life; most typically occurring between age 45 and 55.
