The General Medical Council observed that overseas doctors often experience ‘difficulties with subtleties of language and dialect […]; misunderstandings of the nuances of non-verbal communication and social and behavioural norms’ (2014). Such inadequacies have knock-on effects for the treatment and care of patients; as well as patient safety; governance and safeguarding. Induction for Overseas Doctors aims to help prepare overseas doctors for the realities of working in the NHS. It develops communication skills that will enable trainees to operate more effectively both within the workplace and the wider community.
Established in 2013, Remedium Partners is one of the leading providers of permanent and fixed-term doctors into the NHS. At Remedium Partners, we believe that placing permanent and fixed term doctors, rather than locums, saves the health service time and money. Having placed over 500 doctors since we were founded, we estimate to have saved the NHS in excess of £50M.
