About the CPD course
An interactive, practical session which introduces Child and Adolescent to Parent Violence and Abuse (CAPVA).
Participants will explore the dynamics of this complex issue and be given some general strategies to use in their work with families. Through videos, case studies and group discussions information will be provided on definitions; background theories; prevalence and risk factors. An overview of the Building Respectful Families (BRF) model of intervention will be provided. BRF is run by SAFE!, for families in the Thames Valley. Testimonials from families and a restorative film dialogue of work with families is shown.
SAFE! provides support to children and families around the Thames Valley who have been affected by crime or abuse through one-to-one and group sessions
SAFE! has two core services for children and families living anywhere in the Thames Valley:
The Young Victim Service provides support to children aged 5 up to 18 who have been harmed by an experience of victimisation.
The Building Respectful Families Service provides support to families experiencing Child on Parent Violence.
