About the CPD course

The Andalusian Kufic Script course offers an in-depth exploration of one of the most elegant and historic styles of Arabic calligraphy. Rooted in the rich Andalusian heritage; this course begins with an introduction to the cultural and artistic significance of Kufic script; focusing on its distinctive forms and applications in architecture; such as the Al Hamra Palace. Participants will master foundational techniques; starting with the Alif; and progress to designing complete compositions. Through practical sessions; students will use artistic tools to create balanced; visually appealing works; culminating in a final painting that showcases their understanding of Andalusian Kufic aesthetics.

The School of Calligraphy and Ornamentation is a new specialised art school in Fujairah, UAE under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Alsharqi. The school offers a number of workshops and various programs dedicated to the traditional arts of the book that include calligraphy, ornamentation, gilding, miniature painting and bookmaking crafts. These courses are open to adults interested in learning these artistic skills from anywhere in the world.
