About the CPD course
Legionella are naturally occurring bacteria. There are over forty different species; all of which are potentially harmful to humans. Legionella can cause a range of illnesses; including the potentially fatal Legionnaires' disease. When the bacteria enter man-made water systems; suitable conditions can encourage growth and reproduction to levels that pose a significant health risk. Understanding the conditions that encourage legionella growth; and the maintenance and monitoring procedures that can be put in place to minimise the risk; is essential to maintaining safe water systems and protecting against infection.
