About the CPD course
"NORM"; or "Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material' is an inevitable component in oil and gas production; and may appear as scale in pipes and tanks; or as Carbonate and Sulphate deposits. Apart from the penetrating ability of Gamma radiation; the primary hazard is through inhalation or ingestion and long term exposure to NORM can include a higher risk of cancer. Because of this; it is essential to follow specific and detailed procedures in order to restrict exposure to Ionising Radiation. This course will help you to identify different types of radiation and describe ways to protect yourself from it. We will also look at relevant legislation and waste management.
