About the CPD course
Skin in the 21st century is subject to external stressors such as pollution and sun exposure; and internal stressors such as diet and stress. Sunlight and pollution damage cellular biomarkers but also damage the batteries of the cell – the mitochondria. Mitochondria are central to the vicious cycle of ageing due to reactive oxygen species causing DNA damage to the mitochondria leading to dysfunctional mitochondria; which in turn leads to decreased bioenergy. This video will allow for pausing and restarting where required.
Skin Life Analytics is an expert testing company for mitochondrial damage in skin. Damage to the mitochondria will accelerate skin ageing and we can detect this long before the visible effects of skin ageing are apparent, allowing for progress to be tracked at the molecular level. Our Chief Scientific Officer, Professor Mark Birch-Machin, is a world leading molecular dermatologist at Newcastle University, and has many years of cosmetic industry knowledge and decades of exceptional research on human skin ageing. He delights in sharing his expert knowledge and latest cutting edge research.
