About the CPD course
The training is designed to help carers understand the variety of complex reasons why children and young people self-harm. Too often children experience high levels of shame associated with harming themselves. The course intends to provide foster carers with information to dispel those myths and stereotypes linked to perceptions of self-harm. It aims to enable delegates to understand the consequences of self-harm and the impact of the internet on mental health. The course considers messages from research about the complex relationship between self-harm and suicide. Delegates will also examine different ways supporting young people and where to get additional information.
