To raise autism and inclusion awareness for those working within the leisure/recreation sector to enable them to To understand; appreciate and accept the differences autism and other abilities brings and the requirement to be an inclusive organization. To adopt; amend and modify communication strategies; the environment; and operating procedures to support differences in communication; social interaction; behaviour; and sensory processing; To understand behaviours of concern; the reasons they occur and strategies to support constructive behaviour. To be in a better position to accommodate and support families of; and children with; autism and other abilities in an inclusive and positive environment manner.
At Swimming Buddies we aim to help all our buddies reach their full potential in swimming and stay safe in the water while making some new friends along the way.
For children with other abilities swimming can be a very therapeutic activity, calming the sensory overloads of our world. As our Buddies view, feel and understand the world in a unique way it means that the teaching process for learning to swim must be unique also.
Our coaches have experience in working with children with other abilities and understand the best teaching techniques to use while helping children to stay safe in the water.
