The Almshouse Association is pleased to offer an eLearning training course; to provide new trustees and clerks with the key knowledge and signposting to be effective in their roles within almshouse charities. The following topics are covered: almshouse history; what makes almshouses unique; the role of the trustee and a clerk; the key documents trustees and clerks are to be familiar with; the role of the Charity Commission and where to go for support. It is aimed at new to the role clerks and trustees; ideally to be completed within their first month of joining their charity.
The Almshouse Association is an essential component of the almshouse movement; we continue to provide support, information and guidance on a broad range of general and specific issues, to over 1600 independent almshouse member charities that provide homes for around 35,000 residents across the United Kingdom.
Over the years our services have extended to include guidance manuals, policy documents and model templates, training seminars, interest-free loans and funding.
