About the CPD course
This course has been designed to allow practitioners to understand their responsibilities with regard to children and young people and how to recognise signs and indicators of concern. Formal child protection procedures will be discussed along with an explanation of concepts; such early help and what that means for the families involved. The course will look at the management of concerns and what is required of staff members when these concerns are identified - and the resultant referrals and issues; such as consent and the thresholds of concerns. The course will also cover issues such as safe recruitment for their staff; and an understanding of how safeguarding allegations and complaints are handled by the Local Authority Designated Officer. Finally the course will show how this works in practice across each setting by understanding the lessons from serious case reviews and other child protection investigations.
