About the CPD course
Compassion fatigue is something that can happen to anyone; it's when you become exhausted and unable to engage with and support someone you care for. As a foster carer; you care for your foster child- physically; mentally; emotionally; and even spiritually 24/7. Sometimes you simply have nothing left to give. You experience compassion fatigue. If you don't take care of yourself; it can even lead to burnout and needing to take a break from fostering. It is important to understand compassion fatigue because it not only affects you but potentially the children in your care and the wider fostering community.
