Knife Crime Awareness

Online Course The Foster Carer Training Company

About the CPD course

When we think about knife crime; we may well focus on crimes carried out in the streets by gangs of young people causing serious and sometimes fatal injuries. These are the crimes we hear about in the news. In fact; knife crime is a broader term. The crime can also include carrying a bladed or sharp weapon without a legitimate reason or using it as a threat or to cause injury. Knife crime is thought to be increasing in the UK; and young people are particularly vulnerable. It is important to understand why a child in your care might want to carry a knife and the risks involved; both to themselves and others. You will need to know how to talk to them about it and the best ways to keep them safe.
