About the CPD course
Vacuum Metal Deposition (VMD) is one of the most powerful and sensitive techniques for developing latent finger-marks. It finds widespread application on non-porous; semi-porous; and porous surfaces. The process involves physically coating evidence with an ultra-thin metal film under high vacuum conditions. The result is a reverse developed latent print; which remains unaffected by the process itself; therefore; VMD does not compromise subsequent DNA sampling for analysis. West Technology Forensics offers a 2-day comprehensive Operational Training Program lead by Forensic Scientists that covers both theoretical principles and practical applications; ensuring proficiency in this advanced forensic technique.
West Technology Forensics are a world leading manufacturer of forensics Vacuum Metal Deposition (VMD®) Systems for latent fingerprint development on non/semi-porous and porous exhibits. These systems are widely utilised in UK Forensic Labs and by various government agencies and police departments worldwide.
