About the event

This session will explore the definition of dyscalculia and how it differs from more general learning difficulties. It will look at how practitioners can identify dyscalculia in the classroom. A range of strategies to support learners with dyscalculia and maths learning difficulties will be explored; including the use of manipulatives; such as two-coloured counters and Cuisenaire rods. Strategies for tackling word problems; such as bar modelling and numberless word problems will also be explored.
