This session will cover the definition and signs of dyscalculia; how it affects learners and what can be done in the classroom to accommodate these difficulties. Attendees will be introduced to a range of pedagogical tools including Cuisenaire rods (Butterworth & Chinn) and other manipulatives. Alternative methods of approaching numeracy problems will also be covered to provide a wide range of tools to educators. Numeracy anxiety and the co-morbidity of dyscalculia will be discussed.
