We have been asking our members from across the industries the reasons why they became a CPD provider. This CPD Member case study was provided by Human Factors Healthcare Hub, Loughborough University. For more information, please visit their CPD Member Directory page.
Please provide us with a brief overview of your organisation. What do you do?
The Human Factors Healthcare Hub provides education and training in Human Factors (Ergonomics) to improve patient safety systems. Our education programmes are based on Systems Thinking and Task Analysis to understand how people (workers, service users, and other stakeholders) interact with equipment, environments, processes, etc. individually, in teams and as part of larger systems and organisations. We focus on the dual outcomes of optimising system performance and improving human well-being.
Why did you become a CPD provider?
We value the CPD accreditation process to ensure that our programme is reviewed and improved with expert advice. This gives both us (as providers) and our Learners confidence in the knowledge and skills being taught in our courses.
How did you implement CPD accreditation in your organisation?
We implemented CPD accreditation by applying for accreditation for our Human Factors Healthcare Learning Programme. We started with Level 1 (one hour online interactive course) and then followed with individual applications for our nine Level 2 modules.
How has CPD helped your organisation achieve its learning objectives?
We received very useful feedback for the early applications and were able to review and improve both our courses and our CPD applications.
