This course is targeted at educational settings to enable staff to understand the unique learning profile of children with Down’s Syndrome; how to enhance reading by using the whole word approach and explore strategies to teach reading and differentiate curriculum so it is accessible for children with Down’s Syndrome.
Down’s Syndrome Scotland, a member-led charity established in 1982 are the only charity in Scotland dedicated to providing ‘all through life’ support and a range of services to people with Down’s syndrome and their families and carers nationally across Scotland. We provide training for educational settings to positively include and effectively support the education of children and young people with Down’s syndrome. We provide teaching sessions to midwifery and health professionals with supporting new and expectant parents through prenatal screening and testing, receiving the news and the early years of having a child with Down’s syndrome.
