About the CPD course
The UN Migration Agency - IOM (UK) has been commissioned by the North East Strategic Migration Partnership (NESMP) to develop and deliver a training course to increase the confidence and capacity of foster carers; supported lodging providers and supported housing professionals in the North East of England to look after unaccompanied asylum seeking children from a range of cultural and religious backgrounds. The course aims to equip participants with the necessary tools to gain an understanding of the experiences of unaccompanied migrant children; their needs and how to effectively meet them; with particular focus on inter-cultural communication; the asylum and age assessment processes; risk awareness and safeguarding.
