About the CPD course
This course covers the essential topics needed to undertake front line work in the community with those who may have experienced trauma or abuse. The course gives a solid foundational understanding of domestic abuse/sexual abuse and trauma and how it impacts victims and professionals. Attendees explore their own norms and values in relation to difficult topics and how this may impact our own professional practice. We cover the legal underpinning of policies around safeguarding; confidentiality and equality and how societal developments have led to reforms in these areas.

Yellow Door
Over 30 years ago, in 1985, a small number of women from the Southampton’s Women’s Group gathered together to discuss issues around the lack of support available for women within the city who had experienced rape. Southampton Rape Crisis was established. The organisation began in a small, dank room at the Women’s Centre with just a couple of phones and a few volunteers to form a helpline. ? Today, we are known as Yellow Door. Over this time our services have transformed to meet the needs of those who come to us for support. We are now able to support not only women but all genders, young people, children and families, as well as engaging in discussions regarding healthy relationships with the wider community.Want to learn more?
