About the CPD course
This training session will introduce professionals to a sensitive topic such as FGM by framing the discussion within the context of human rights; violence against women and girls (VAWG); and child abuse. With the use of visual aids; interactive activities and diagrams; trainees will be educated on the following topics: understanding of different types of FGM; reasons why it is performed and the long and short term effects of FGM. Trainees will be provided with information on global and local prevalence; legal frameworks; mandatory reporting responsibilities and FGMPO (FGM Protection Orders).

Yellow Door
Over 30 years ago, in 1985, a small number of women from the Southampton’s Women’s Group gathered together to discuss issues around the lack of support available for women within the city who had experienced rape. Southampton Rape Crisis was established. The organisation began in a small, dank room at the Women’s Centre with just a couple of phones and a few volunteers to form a helpline. ? Today, we are known as Yellow Door. Over this time our services have transformed to meet the needs of those who come to us for support. We are now able to support not only women but all genders, young people, children and families, as well as engaging in discussions regarding healthy relationships with the wider community.Want to learn more?
