This is an introductory course suitable for anyone who works with children, young people and adults at risk either in a paid role or as a volunteer. By the end of the course learners will have developed awareness of possible signs of abuse they will know what to do if a child or adult at risk is being abused and have considered wider issues of abuse. The course also covers other key areas of safeguarding personal and professional boundaries and overviews the procedure for managing allegations. The course can be run either for those who work with children, or to include adults at risk.
I have worked with parents and children for over 20 years in a variety of roles. I am an experienced and dynamic leader who has worked both in the statutory and voluntary sector to manage projects from inception to delivery of challenging targets. I am an enthusiastic individual keen to motivate others and support them to develop to their full potential.
I have over 10 years of leadership and management experience. Alongside this I have had 20 years experience of training. I have developed my own programmes in response to identified training needs, and delivered accredited courses. Both in my paid work and voluntary roles, I work with community members, staff and partners and I have developed excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills to communicate at different levels. I source about 50% of my work directly with clients and for the other 50% am delighted to work with various training and consultancy companies, ensuring that my knowledge and professional development is always up to date.
