This 1 day training workshop is designed for Audiology/ENT staff; with current competence in Otoscopy; to develop the core competency knowledge; skills and behaviour to enable them to safely and competently remove necessary earwax from routine ears via irrigation. It may be useful for Audiologists who are already performing wax removal by other methods and wish to add irrigation to their service. Training involves face to face theoretical tutorials; a theoretical assessment; hands-on practical training; and supervised clinical work which includes a practical/oral competency assessment and an observation logbook. This training structure and content is based on the current British Society of Audiology (BSA) (2020) Minimum Training Guidelines for Aural Care Delivered by Hearing Health Professionals and BSA (2021) Aural Care (Ear Wax Removal) Practice Guidance.
