Flight Dispatchers, also known as aircraft dispatchers or flight operations officers, play a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of commercial and private aircraft.
The job of a Flight Dispatcher is to coordinate and plan flights, ensuring that aircraft are properly prepared, fueled, and staffed, and that flight plans are optimized for safety and efficiency. They typically work in control towers, operations centers, or directly for airlines, private charter companies, and corporate flight departments. They use navigation equipment, meteorological information, and other data to plan flight paths, taking into account factors such as weather, airspace restrictions, and aircraft performance. Moreover, they communicate with pilots, air traffic control, and airports ground personnel to ensure that flights run smoothly and safely.

Such training programmes can be found at colleges, universities, and flight schools, and usually take anywhere from four to six months to complete. The training includes both classroom instruction and hands-on experience. The subject areas cover a wide range of topics, including:

In addition to classroom instruction, trainees will also receive hands-on training using flight simulation software.
