We have been asking our members from across the industries the reasons why they became a CPD provider. This CPD Member case study was provided by Hochiki Europe. For more information please visit their CPD Member Directory page.

Please provide us with a brief overview of your organisation. What do you do?

We manufacture commercial life safety products and systems including fire detection and emergency lighting.

Why did you become a CPD provider?

To meet the demand of the market in terms of consultants and customers needing to keep their knowledge on technologies and standards up-to-date.

How did you implement CPD accreditation in your organisation?

We had a number of informal presentations on our products and systems and some of the technologies involved, which we restructured, removing the overtly sales-focused messaging. We also worked with our Tech Support and Sales teams to distil the most salient points of some of the British Standards concerned with fire detection and emergency lighting system installation, to provide easy-to-follow guidance presentations. These were submitted to The CPD Certification Service for accreditation. In 2020 all of these were adapted for webinar use, so we could continue providing them regularly through lock-down and the subsequent travel restrictions.

How has CPD helped your organisation achieve its learning objectives?

Our product training is split between customer training (in-depth and very technical with a hands-on element) and non-customer training (more advisory in scope) and this is where CPD accreditation helps us grow interest in our products and systems. It's such a recognisable accreditation, that interest in these courses has helped us maintain seminar and webinar attendance over the last 2 years.
